Hilton Aruba’s elegant The Westerly retreat redefines island luxury.
By Nicole Paskowsky
Aruba’s east-to-west trade winds have blown in something special that belongs on any vacation radar, whether it is your first visit or your 50th. The Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino recently celebrated the opening of The Westerly, a new tower that completes a multiyear, top-to-bottom resort renovation.
What Is The Westerly at Hilton Aruba?
Named for the winds that shape the island’s character, The Westerly offers a boutique-style experience within the Hilton resort, which opened as Aruba’s first luxury hotel in 1963. The project goes beyond a new wing.
“The Westerly isn’t just a new addition to Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino—it’s a fresh take on travel in Aruba,” says Jerome Luciani, general manager of the Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino. “From the moment guests arrive, every detail is designed to create an intimate, high-end retreat that’s both private and welcoming.”

Terrace on 10 and Westerly Perks
Westerly guests receive priority access to Hilton Aruba amenities, including Eforea spa treatments, alfresco dining at the newly renovated Sunset Grille (an island staple for more than 60 years), and premium pool and beach lounging.
They also enjoy exclusive access to Terrace on 10, a rooftop experience on the tower’s top floor with a sweeping panoramic view. Try the innovative cuisine day or night, join a soundbath with guided breathwork on the patio, or sip a cocktail to live music in the breeze as the sun sets. Private cabanas line the rooftop for guests who want to linger.

Rooms With a View of Palm Beach
Large private balconies in the guest rooms make the most of the Aruba sunshine and ocean views along the island’s iconic Palm Beach, where the resort sits on the widest stretch of beach of any resort in Aruba. The ground floor adds 10 adults-only swim-up suites with direct pool access, spacious living areas, and soaking tubs.
Interior design by Jeffrey Beers International and 10 Design fills the spaces with natural limestone, playful curves, and a sun-drenched palette that pays homage to the Hilton Aruba’s midcentury modern roots. Morris Lapidus, the architect behind Miami Beach’s Fontainebleau Hotel, designed the original hotel in the 1960s. Special touches, like complimentary sleep masks, calming pillow spray, and plush robes and slippers, round out the sense of pampering.

Exploring Aruba by Boat
Aruba’s waters are even more stunning offshore. For those traveling on their own vessel, Aruba sees fewer cruising sailors than its neighboring ABC Islands.
The upside is you can anchor easily in front of luxury resorts with pristine beaches without bumping into other boats. The downside is that customs docks are not user-friendly, being designed more for massive cargo ships. The Hilton often refers guests to Wind Creek Marina and Varadero Aruba and can coordinate transportation.
For everyone else, Aruba offers plenty of sailing charters. The Monforte III, a 115-foot schooner handcrafted from Brazilian walnut,is perfect for those who want to trade the typical crowded “party boat” catamarans for a more relaxed, upscale experience. Between snorkeling, kayaking, and lounging in the water hammock, the crew keeps glasses full and passes trays of hors d’oeuvres. It makes a perfect complement to The Westerly’s elevated hospitality and tranquility. thewesterly.com
