This Boozy Cinnamon Apple Upside-Down Cake is perfect for celebrating life’s milestones aboard or ashore.

Ingredients:
Cake
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 medium Honeycrisp apples. Peel, core, and dice one and slice the other.
Caramel Topping
- 3 Tbsp. unsalted butter
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. rum
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- Pinch kosher salt
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a 9-inch oven-safe skillet or cake pan, melt the butter.
- Stir in brown sugar, rum, cinnamon, and salt until smooth and bubbling.
- Arrange apple slices in overlapping circles.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a second bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients just until combined.
- Gently fold in the diced apples; do not overmix.
- Slowly spread batter evenly over the apples.
- Bake 30-35 minutes, until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes, then carefully invert onto a serving plate.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
