Windy Boats unveils its latest adventure.
More than 50 years of boatbuilding and a history of fishing the Skagerrak, a strait between Norway, Sweden, and Denmark off the North Sea, has solidified Windy Boats as tough, well-crafted vessels. The story goes that Hugo Vold established the name after his father’s boats, all named Vindy, as he always made it back safely from fishing the rough seas of the Skagerrak.
With a deep respect to the sea, Windy Boats continues to build seaworthy sport cruisers, yacht tenders, and sport boats. With the latest SR38, Windy introduces a multipurpose family sports boat that can go anywhere fast and safe. Designed with the help of Norwegian-born naval architect Espen Øino, and the interior by Design Unlimited, the SR38 is the third model in the Sports Boat lineup.

The design brings flexibility for any adventure as well as power choices based on your preference, outboards or inboard diesel sterndrive with speeds up to 48 knots.
The walkaround deck gets you fore and aft with ease, and the folding aft bulwarks drop down to create a huge cockpit and entertainment area. Between the helm seating and the midship lounge seating is a galley area to prepare drinks and snacks with the usual grill, sink, and coolers.
The cockpit sun lounger lifts open in the outboard version to reveal loads of space for water toys, such as Seabobs, and the hardtop is designed with a roof rack to carry two paddleboards or kayaks and such. A raked radar arch helps keep electronics clear. At the helm, sliding panels on both sides and a sliding sunroof keep crew protected or feeling the open breeze.
Down below, owners have the choice of a convertible U-shaped sofa and dinette or a fixed berth. A generous head with separate shower can make for a comfortable weekend. The Windy SR38 is just right for those active souls who want to explore. windyboats.com; nauticalventures.com
