Jimmy’s Wines & Spirits once again proudly demonstrated its ongoing commitment to Bahamian culture, sailing heritage, and community partnership through its continued support of the annual Regattas in the Abacos (RITA), one of the country’s most celebrated maritime events.
Last year was the 46th year, and RITA brought together more than two dozen sailboats from across The Bahamas and Florida for a week of thrilling competition, island-to-island racing, and vibrant celebrations spanning Green Turtle Cay, Marsh Harbour, Hope Town, and beyond. For Jimmy’s Wines & Spirits, the regatta represents far more than sponsorship — it is a meaningful investment in people, tradition, and Abaco’s ongoing growth.
“Supporting Regattas in the Abacos is something we are genuinely proud of each year,” said representatives of Jimmy’s Wines & Spirits. “It allows us to celebrate our national sport, work closely with our valued business partners, and support the local bars, restaurants, and communities that make Abaco so special.”
As the distributor of Sands Beer, Mount Gay Rum, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and other leading brands, Jimmy’s Wines & Spirits played a key role throughout the week’s festivities. For the third consecutive year, the company hosted complimentary sailor bars at each cay, transforming award ceremonies into lively, welcoming gatherings that embodied the spirit of camaraderie and celebration that defines RITA.
Assistant General Manager Diane de Cardenas previously noted that the regatta provides a unique opportunity to connect business with culture. “The regatta touches so many cays and communities across Abaco. It gives us the chance to support our partners, bring people together, and be part of something truly Bahamian.”
This year’s regatta delivered exceptional racing across five challenging courses in the turquoise waters of the Sea of Abaco. Returning champions aboard Rockstar claimed overall honors, while fierce competition in the multihull division and the presence of traditional Bahamian sloops highlighted both the modern and historic sides of sailing in The Bahamas.
Beyond the racing, the event continues to play a vital role in Abaco’s economic and cultural resurgence. Several regatta stops celebrated the reopening and continued recovery of beloved local establishments, reinforcing the importance of community-driven events in revitalizing the islands.
Jimmy’s Wines & Spirits Brand Manager for Mount Gay Rum and Tito’s Vodka, Angella Moss, emphasized the value of this partnership. “We are proud to continue supporting Regattas in the Abacos. This event celebrates true sailing culture, supports tourism, and strengthens local businesses. For our brands and for Jimmy’s Wines & Spirits, there is no better place to be.”
From the opening celebrations to the final awards in Hope Town, the Regattas in the Abacos once again delivered unforgettable moments on and off the water — made possible through strong partnerships and shared pride in Bahamian sailing.
With sails full and spirits high, Jimmy’s Wines & Spirits looks forward to continuing its support of Regattas in the Abacos in the years ahead, standing firmly behind an event that honors heritage, fuels community, and showcases the very best of Abaco.
