Legacy Harbour Marina Reopens in Fort Myers After Hurricane Ian Rebuild
Nearly four years after Hurricane Ian devastated Southwest Florida, Legacy Harbour Marina is welcoming boaters back to the Fort Myers waterfront.
Located along the Caloosahatchee River in downtown Fort Myers, the marina has completed an approximately $15 million redevelopment following the storm’s destruction in September 2022. Construction began in early 2025, and the first boats have now returned to the docks. The marina is accepting slip reservations for seasonal and short-term stays.
The reopening restores a longtime homeport along Florida’s west coast and comes at an especially busy time for the Fort Myers waterfront, with the 53rd annual Fort Myers Boat Show scheduled for Nov. 12-15.

Legacy Harbour Marina Rebuilt for Today’s Boaters
The 13-acre marina at 2044 West First Street includes 131 wet slips accommodating boats from 40 to 140 feet. Its location provides access to the Caloosahatchee River and the Gulf of Mexico, while downtown Fort Myers and the River District are within walking distance.
The redevelopment was led by AIRN Management in partnership with Bellingham Marine. Beyond replacing the docks destroyed by Hurricane Ian, the project brought new marine infrastructure and updated utilities to the property.
The marina’s return is also significant for cruising boaters traveling Florida’s west coast and the Okeechobee Waterway. Legacy Harbour is located at Marker 49 and has historically served as a convenient stop for boaters looking to access downtown Fort Myers.

New Dock Systems and Infrastructure
The rebuilt marina uses Bellingham Marine’s Unifloat concrete wave attenuator system, supported by 70-foot steel piles, along with Unideck aluminum-frame docks and WearDeck synthetic decking on the interior slips.
Infrastructure upgrades include potable water, in-slip pump-out, fire suppression, fiberglass dock boxes and shore power. The marina’s website also notes larger steel pipe piles with HDPE sleeves designed to improve durability and reduce maintenance.
Coastal Marina Management has been brought in to oversee day-to-day operations, dock staff and customer service.
The redevelopment follows a lengthy recovery process after Hurricane Ian caused extensive damage to the original marina. The rebuilt facility is intended to provide a more durable waterfront destination while retaining its role as a homeport for visiting and local boaters.
Slip Reservations Now Open
Boaters can now request slips through Dockwa, which handles reservations and provides digital contracts, payments and communication between boaters and marina staff. Reservations are available through the marina’s website and Dockwa, or by calling Legacy Harbour at 239-320-8855.
The marina’s reopening also adds another destination to the Fort Myers waterfront just ahead of the Fort Myers Boat Show. The annual event returns Nov. 12–15, bringing boats, marine equipment and accessories to the Caloosahatchee River waterfront.

A New Waterfront Destination Takes Shape
The marina is only part of the redevelopment taking shape at Legacy Harbour. Nellie’s Boatyard, a new restaurant founded by local restaurateur Leonard Lemmer, is expected to open later this year in the former Joe’s Crab Shack space.
The restaurant is planned to feature 82 floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Caloosahatchee River, with a menu focused on steaks and local seafood. Its opening is expected to add another attraction to the waterfront destination as Fort Myers continues rebuilding from Hurricane Ian.
For boaters, however, the biggest change is already here: after nearly four years, Legacy Harbour Marina once again has boats in its slips.
