Experience the Ultimate Long-Range Cruisers: Comfort, Style, and Performance
Ready to move on from day trips? Long-range cruisers go the distance in comfort and style. Set your sights on the distant horizon with these luxurious vessels that can go at least 1,100 nautical miles at cruising speed. With one hull or two, these 16 boats are made for long-haul adventures.
Horizon FD90
Horizon’s best-selling range is the FD, and the series’ most popular model is the FD90. The voluminous Fast Displacement vessels designed by Dutch designer Cor D. Rover have space galore, and the 90-foot FD90 (23′ 3″ beam) has the most in-demand features, like a main-deck master, beach club option, and floor-to-ceiling salon windows. Below the waterline is the secret to her performance: a high-performance piercing bow juts forward from the hull, improving the ride and efficiency. At half-load, cruising at 10.5 knots, the FD90 has a 1,300-nautical mile range. The newest FD90, Hull No. 29, is the first one to have an open galley and a split-use skylounge, which boasts a huge covered deck behind the enclosed bridge. horizonyacht.com
Leopard 53 Powercat
In conceiving its latest generation of powercats, Leopard started from scratch to design hulls that slice through the water for the best possible ride in all conditions, at motoryacht— not sailing yacht—speeds. This is no sailing catamaran minus the mast. The 53-footer (25′ 2″ beam) tops the power range, offering a max speed of 24 knots and a range of 1,180 nautical miles at 9.5 knots. With three- or four-cabin layouts, a galley aft close to covered cockpit dining, a flybridge for both sunbathing
and driving with all-round visibility, and a hydraulic platform aft to carry the tender, livability is also part of the package. leopardcatamarans.com
Eastbay 60
The Downeast-style boat gets an upgrade with the new Eastbay 60 (68′ 1″ LOA, 19′ beam). Parent company GB Marine Group’s proprietary V-Warp hull makes her what the builder calls “the best performing Eastbay ever built.” She’s faster, stable, more maneuverable and—most important for this article—extremely fuel-efficient. With standard 725-hp Volvo IPS 950s, the 60 can travel almost 900 nautical miles at a swift 21 knots, and obviously a lot more at a lower speed. Inside is a handcrafted satin teak interior with a choice of galley-up or galley-down layout. Both options include a walkaround king berth in the owner’s stateroom. eastbayyachts.com
Marlow 70E MKII
Stay on board longer and cruise farther: Those were the goals of the owners who built the latest hull of Marlow’s 70E MKII (see the October 2023 issue). The initial attraction for them was the large engine room and enclosed bridge, plus the fact that there are backup systems for the backups. They then worked with Marlow to design bigger windows, customize the bridge, and even add a steam shower to the master ensuite. The Caterpillar C18s’ fuel burn at 17 to 18 knots is “minimal,” says the owner. And at a leisurely eight knots, 2,815 nautical miles are possible. All of this is wrapped up in a paint scheme that gives a distinctly modern aesthetic to the classic trawler form. marlowyachts.com
Ocean Alexander 32L
One of Ocean Alexander’s most popular models is getting a design refresh with Hulls 8 and 9. The 32L (for Legend) is a 106-foot, 4-inch (23′ beam) five-stateroom yacht designed by Evan K. Marshall as an evolution of the OA 100. Now owners can choose a single-deck master on the main deck instead of the original split-deck layout that places the ensuite on the lower level. Other new options include a pass-through window connecting the galley and dining salon, Pullman berths in a twin cabin, and removing the davit on the flybridge to surround the Jacuzzi with sunpads. This is a true long-range vessel, too, able to cruise more than 1,700 nautical miles at 11.2 knots. oceanalexander.com
Prestige M8
For anyone tired of paring down their lifestyle to fit the constraints of a boat, Prestige’s new M8, which headlines its catamaran line, may be the answer. The 65-foot powercat has a house-like 2,900 square feet of living space, including a master cabin that stretches nearly the full 29-foot beam. With hulls designed by catamaran guru Marc Lombard, the model is comfortable in all seas and consumes half the fuel that a monohull of comparable volume would. House systems have been optimized to require 50 percent less energy thus can be run on batteries alone for hours at a time. Another neat feature is the 14-foot-wide platform between the hulls aft that unfolds to create steps into the sea. prestige-yachts.com

Riviera 585 SUV
The newest addition to Riviera’s SUV line made her U.S. premiere at the 2023 Fort Lauderdale show in late October. A design meld of the Flybridge and Sport Yacht models, the SUV line’s hallmarks are its expansive water sports cockpit, single-level alfresco deck and salon, plus a convivial foredeck lounge. On the 65-foot (including the swim platform and bowsprit) 585 SUV (18′ 7″ beam), excellent use of space has given the lower deck three cabins and three heads, plus an additional area aft of the master for a utility room, extra accommodations, or crew quarters. Her proven bluewater hull can travel 1,100 nautical miles at 8.9 knots. rivieraaustralia.com
Hargrave E116
It’s become cliché to say a boat feels larger than her length, but there’s no getting around that it’s the best way to describe this new 116-foot (26′ beam) tri-deck design from Hargrave. And she has the gross tonnage, 317 GT, to back up that claim. All the superyacht amenities are accounted for on the first hull: extended sundeck with Jacuzzi; beach club with steam room; on-deck full-beam master; four guest staterooms on the lower deck, all with king-size berths; and even a captain’s cabin behind the bridge. Twin 1,900-hp Caterpillar C32s give her a 19-knot top speed and a 2,200-nautical mile range at 10 knots. hargravecustomyachts.com
Sunseeker Ocean 182
The 182 in the name indicates the gross tonnage of this 88-foot, 11-inch yacht (23′ 6″ beam). That gives you a hint of the penthouse-like milieu that awaits behind its glass doors. In fact, she has precisely 2,060 square feet of interior space spread over three decks. The top deck holds the yacht’s sole helm—a first for Sunseeker—and can be fully enclosed or open to the aft deck thanks to retractable doors. At the transom is the builder’s innovative X-TEND feature that creates sunbeds on the bathing platform or in the cockpit. While she tops out at 27 knots, the 182 also has a 3,434-gallon tank that allows her to voyage 1,100 nautical miles at 12 knots. sunseeker.com
Iliad 53F
A brand born in Australia in 2019, Iliad Catamarans is beginning to make real inroads into the American market. Its 53F will make her U.S. debut at the 2024 Miami boat show in February. One of her standout features is the highest bridgedeck clearance in her class, according to Iliad. Combine that with generous freeboard and this is a vessel that can handle challenging conditions offshore. And far from shore she can venture: 440-hp Volvo or Yanmar engines deliver a top speed of 21 knots, but at low speeds she barely sips fuel, extending her range to 3,135 nautical miles. Inside, owners can choose the layout, finishes, and appliances to complete the huge amount of living space. iliadcatamarans.com
Maritimo S75
Australian builder Maritimo has always been about long-range vessels, and with the recent global launch of its flagship Sedan series boat, it’s more comfortable than ever to go the distance with this brand. The 75-foot, 8-inch S75 (19′ 8″ beam) features an “Adventure Deck” aft, a lower cockpit with almost 200 square feet of open space for hauling toys, setting up sun loungers at water level, or even playing basketball. On the main deck, the galley connects the cockpit to the salon, which can be made into an indoor/outdoor area with the option of sliding windows. The hardtop can be used to stow gear, and below are king, queen, and twin staterooms. maritimo.com.au
Horizon PC68
The first choice owners of the new PC68 model need to make is how to use the forward part of the main deck: open salon or on-deck master? One gives a huge entertaining space and the other a full-beam cabin with wraparound windows. Then it’s a question of how to use the extended flybridge and Portuguese bridge a deck above, which offer many layout options. But there’s more; with its famous flexibility, Horizon works with owners to make changes that go beyond layout and soft goods. How far to go is also up to the operator. At 24 knots, the 68-footer (24′ 6″ beam) will make 650 nautical miles; or at 10 knots, 1,650 nautical miles is the limit. horizonpowercatamarans.com
Nordhavn N51
Don’t let the petite dimensions of this Nordhavn fool you. At 50 feet, 9 inches (15′ 8″ beam), the N51 has an Atlantic Ocean-crossing range of 3,000 nautical miles. The two-stateroom big sister to the successful N41 offers a large flybridge, a separated pilothouse, an additional head, and generally more room than her smaller sibling, though she has a similar finish. Like the N41, she comes CE Certified Category A for serious offshore cruising. She is powered by twin 160-hp John Deere engines fed by a 1,450-gallon fuel tank, and the stabilizers, bow thruster and davit all come standard. The first hull just launched this month. nordhavn.com
Ferretti InFYnito 90
Kicking off a new range, the InFYnito 90 is something different for Ferretti Yachts. With the modern owner in mind, the 88-foot, 6-inch (24′ 1″ beam) yacht promotes a strong connection to the outdoors (and to the infinite horizon) and a more sustainable approach to cruising. One of the most distinctive features of the exterior design by Filippo Salvetti is the open-air, yet covered foredeck lounge, dubbed the All-Season Terrace. The build uses greener materials like sustainable teak, ecological paint, and recyclable fabrics and leathers, and a solar roof charges lithium batteries that can carry the house load with zero emissions. A high-efficiency hull propelled by MAN V12 engines gives the InFYnito 90 a 1,200-nautical mile range at 12 knots. ferretti-yachts.com
Absolute Navetta 70
Absolute always chooses a keyword to encapsulate the spirit of a boat when it launches a new model: For its latest Navetta, it’s “allure.” And alluring she is. Showing her stylish Italian origins, she bears the hallmarks of an Absolute, such as the open gunwales that expand the view through the main deck’s big windows. Presented as a concept this past September in Cannes, and debuting at the Cannes show in 2024, the 70 also boasts an oversized flybridge and aft terrace and sophisticated interior décor with sea-going rounded corners on furnishings. Based on data from the builder’s other Navettas, she is expected to cruise between 15 and 25 knots, and in displacement mode, should achieve an 1,100-nautical mile range. absoluteyachts.com
Outer Reef Azure 670 Sport Yacht
Outer Reef’s newest model is a bluewater voyager designed around the alfresco life. Part of the builder’s Classic series, the Azure 670 (67′ 6″ LOA, 17′ 2″ beam) blends traditional style with features that embrace the outdoors, such as an indoor/outdoor transitioning galley and aft deck. Forward is yet another space to enjoy fresh air: the Serenity Foredeck Lounge, which features a dining area with a table that lowers to transform into a sunbed within the U-shaped settee. Aft is a hydraulic Opacmare passerelle/water sports platform that raises above or lowers into the water. See the first hull in person at the 2024 Palm Beach boat show in March. outerreefyachts.com
