New St. Vincent and the Grenadines Sailing Week and new rally for Antigua Sailing Week
The Bequia Easter Regatta has long been a Southern Caribbean favorite but hasn’t sailed since 2019 due to the pandemic. Now, welcome the nine-day St. Vincent and the Grenadines Sailing Week 2025. This two-race series starts with The Bougainvillea Cup, April 13-15, a three-day regatta that begins at the Blue Lagoon Hotel and Marina in St. Vincent with legs to Union Island, Mayreau, and Canouan. The Cup is open to Racing, Cruising I, Cruising II, Multihull, Surprise, a newly introduced open class, and a spectator/rally class for charter boats to join in following the races and enjoy the after-race events. The Bequia Easter Regatta, April 16-21, includes the same race classes, the island’s one-design J/24 class, and locally built historic double-ender (two-bowed) boats. svgsailingweek.com
The Antigua Cruising Rally is the newest addition to Antigua Sailing Week (ASW). This first-time event follows the same schedule as ASW, April 26-May 2, starting and ending in Falmouth and English Harbours. However, the seven-day itinerary leapfrogs around the island with stops on the island’s North West Coast, Green Island, and Jolly Harbour, mixing bluewater sailing with laid-back party time. Ralliers and racers join on the April 30th lay day for music, food, and beach games at Pigeon Point. sailingweek.com/rally

Learn to Pilot a Submersible in Curacao
As superyachts get bigger, the water toys on board get more sophisticated. Enter the submersible trend, especially for those who want a SCUBA diving-like experience on steroids. Popular models like the Netherlands’ U-Boat Worx’s Nemo, which is nine feet long, weighs more than 5,000 pounds, carries a pilot and passenger, and can operate for up to eight hours, dives up to 330 feet deep. Submersible pilot training is an in-demand skill for yacht crew, and something U-Boat Worx offers at its Sub Center Curacao training center, south of the island’s capital of Willemstad. Curacao’s undersea world is ideal for a one-day Introduction Pilot Course, a 10-day Surface Officer Course, or an 18-day Chief Pilot Course. substation-curacao.com
