TRAVEL PROTOCOLS & REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BAHAMAS

Below are the procedures currently required by the Government of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas for the entering the country. We will continue to add details as they are announced.

Important Updates 1/4/21
REQUIREMENTS FOR TRAVELERS, BOATERS AND BAHAMAS MARINAS

Entering The Bahamas

The Bahamas has suspended the mandatory RT-PCR testing requirement for vaccinated travellers, which was expected to take effect on January 7, 2022. Vaccinated persons, as well as children ages 2-11, may continue to present either a negative Rapid Antigen Test or negative RT-PCR Test.

In addition effective January 4. 2022, all persons remaining in The Bahamas for longer than 48 hours will be required to undergo a Rapid Antigen Test, regardless of vaccination status. This test replaces the existing Day-5 Rapid Antigen Test.

An island-by-island list of approved testing sites is available at Bahamas.com/travelupdates.

Vaccinated Travelers

All fully vaccinated travelers ages 2 and up wishing to enter The Bahamas are required to obtain a COVID-19 test (Rapid Antigen Test or PCR), with a negative result, taken within three days (72 hours) prior to arrival in The Bahamas, along with proof of vaccination.

Once in possession of a negative COVID-19 test and proof of full vaccination, all persons travelling to The Bahamas are required to apply for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa at travel.gov.bs.

Fully vaccinated travelers are required to upload negative test results in addition to valid proof of vaccination confirming they have passed the two-week immunity period (such as CDC or government issued vaccine record card).

At this time, the Bahamas Government will only be accepting vaccines by Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca.

Unvaccinated Travelers

All un-vaccinated travelers ages 12 and up wishing to enter The Bahamas are required to obtain a COVID-19 test (must be RT-PCR), with a negative result, taken within three days (72 hours) prior to arrival in The Bahamas.

The following information is unchanged:

All persons travelling inter-island (domestic) within The Bahamas by plane or ferry, are required to obtain a negative rapid antigen test, taken no more than three days (72 hours) prior to the date of travel. This does not apply to private boaters.

ALL TRAVELLERS

As part of the Bahamas Travel Health Visa application, travelers will be required to opt in to COVID-19 health insurance that covers them for the duration of their stay in The Bahamas. The cost of insurance is included in the Bahamas Travel Health Visa application fee. Go to travel.gov.bs.

Bahamas Travel Health Visa applications take up to 48 hours to process and should be completed with adequate lead time.

The cost of the Bahamas Travel Health Visa is dependent on length of stay and vaccination status.

Fees for Travel Health Visa to Enter The Bahamas:

Bahamian Citizens or Residents Nil ($0)

For Fully Vaccinated Persons

Visitors from North America (USA and Canada) $40.00

Visitors from the Rest of the World $50.00

For Non-Vaccinated Personal Applying with a RTPCR Test

Visitors from North America (under 5 days’ stay) $40.00

Visitors from North America (over 5 days’ stay) $60.00

Visitors from the Rest of the World $70.00

Note: No fees are required for children 11 years or younger or for the pilots or crew of a commercial air flight.

Effective October 1, 2021, a Travel Health Visa will no longer be required for inter-island travel within The Bahamas.

Effective December 13, 2021, Bahamian citizens and legal residents traveling to The Bahamas will no longer be required to obtain the Health Visa.

If technical difficulties are experienced with the Health Travel Visa website, please call (242) 502-0829 or email healthvisa@bahamas.com
