Makai Power Catamarans is introducing a hydrofoil system on its M37 (37′ LOA, 15′ 2″ beam). The main foil is at the keel to maximize lift and efficiency, while a secondary trim foil positioned above the keel enhances the trim control and improves handling. Testing showed increased speed (30 percent) and fuel efficiency (20 percent) with standard twin 320-hp Yanmar 8LV320 diesel engines. The OMAYA 50 (49′ 1″ LOA, 27′ 6″ beam) is the first of three luxury power catamarans from Bulgarian builder Omaha Yachts. With four Mercury Racing 500R outboards delivering a combined 2,000 horsepower, the 4000 Supercat (40′ LOA, 11′ 7″) is all about speed and performance.
