Horizon EP77
Horizon seems to have a series for just about every type of boater, and long-distance explorers will want to check out its EP yachts; they are all about range. Recently, Horizon used feedback from clients to offer some new options for its EP77 (LOA: 77′ 8″; Beam: 21′ 8″) that reflect how people cruise.
For instance, in lieu of formal dining, it now offers a mid-ship dinette with a breakfast bar. And since every cruiser knows you can never have too much cold storage, owners can trade out the main-deck dayhead for a full-size refrigerator/freezer, as well as additional drawers. The accommodations show new flexibility with the port guest cabin fitted with twins, a queen or both—sliding twins.
Opposite, the designers fit a head in the starboard cabin, making it a four-cabin/four-head layout instead of four/three. Finally, Horizon now offers the option of crew quarters aft instead of the tender garage.
A hefty 4,760-gallon fuel tank and two 550-hp Volvo Penta D13 engines deliver unbelievable range: more than 5,000 nautical miles at 6.8 knots as the boat barely sips fuel at 3.2 gph per engine. Bringing power up to 1,800 rpm and 11.5 knots will give 1,700-plus nautical miles.
