Turkey’s Vicem yard has so much capacity for cold-molded boats that it takes in orders for yachts sold under other badges. One such client is KG Marine in Penfield, New Jersey. This new sport yacht is the second import for KG, the first being an enclosed 62-foot sport yacht with PowerVent surface drives. The new 66-footer has conventional shaft drives and a pair of 1,550 hp MAN engines for projected top speeds of 30 knots. 50th Anniversary
Jean-Jacques Marie, long-time president of Zodiac USA, is retiring. J.J. will assist in the transition of responsibilities to Howard French in the Recreational Products division and Steve Siegel in the Military Products division. After 25 years with Zodiac, he has built an incredible resume of experience including serving on the boards of the NMMA, U.S. Coast Guard Foundation, Naval Special Warfare Foundation, and many others. Marie was recently made an honorary U.S. Navy SEAL.
In recognition of the 50th anniversary of the Cruisair marine air-conditioning brand, Dometic Marine honored Cruisair’s founder, L. Jeremy (Jere) Crews at the Miami International Boat Show in February. Crews was presented with an Outstanding Engineering Invention and Innovation Award to recognize his contribution to the company and the boating industry.

60S Open

Taiwan’s Horizon Yachts is making news with new models, the latest of which is its entry into the sport yacht market with the Elegance 60S Open. This hot little number features wraparound black glass windows, an opening glass sun roof over the deck saloon and wet bar, and a raised helm station that sort of floats, enabling a gracious layout below with a galley and three staterooms. In sport yacht fashion, there are sunpads on the foredeck and a large alfresco seating area on the aft deck atop the tender garage. The first two hulls have been sold to European dealers and the model made its debut at Germany’s Dusseldorf boat show.
