LOOKOUT’s AI CAMERA GIVEs AN intuitive, 3-D augmented view.

Detecting marine hazards while boating is key to a safe outing, and our eyes don’t always catch what’s ahead. Using the latest in artificial intelligence and 3-D design, LOOKOUT launched its AI camera for boating with some special integrated features.

The full-time, daylight, low-light, 360-degree vision camera has full image recognition and uses state-of-the-art computer vision to identify and track objects that may be hazardous to the boat’s course, such as other boats, buoys, floating logs, marine wildlife, kayaks, and more. Designed with the help of AI researchers, video game developers, 3-D visualization experts, and hardware engineers, the camera, along with its “Brain” (black box), uses proprietary algorithms to detect hazards and combine them with data from charts, AIS, and radar to project an enhanced view on your existing multifunction display (MFD).

LOOKOUT also partnered with Lumitec to develop a first-of-its-kind integrated system that combines its high-performance AI vision cameras with a Coast Guard-certified all-around white navigation and anchor light. This allows boaters to mount both critical safety technologies at the vessel’s highest point, enhancing functionality while maintaining regulatory compliance.

“Our integrated system offers boat owners significant advantages by combining navigation compliance with advanced safety technology,” says David Rose, CEO of LOOKOUT. “The high-mounted night vision camera provides exceptional range and clarity in darkness, while the three hundred and sixty-degree camera delivers complete situational awareness around your vessel. It’s a second set of eyes on the water that never blinks or gets distracted, and can see things the human eye might miss.”

The new LOOKOUT solution is compatible with a wide range of vessels, from 20-foot wake sport boats to 65-foot luxury cruisers, making it a valuable safety upgrade for both recreational and light commercial users. This broad compatibility is especially relevant as U.S. Coast Guard data continues to show that operator inattention and failure to maintain a proper lookout remain top causes of boating accidents.

Boaters will have opportunities to see the new system up close at the 2026 Palm Beach International Boat Show in Florida and the Yokohama International Boat Show in Japan. LOOKOUT is also expanding its dealer and installer network to meet rising demand, with authorized partners now available across key boating regions in North America, Europe, and Asia. getalookout.com
