Nordhavn 59 Coastal Pilot
When the passage-making gurus at Nordhavn decided to turn a hand to a coastal pilot, they simply added to those long-range capabilities for which they are famous. This Nordhavn 59 Coastal Pilot (LOA: 58′ 10″; Beam: 17′) is designed for fast cruises of up to 20 knots, but when long hauls are necessary, it can go for 1,000 miles at reduced speeds.
New to the Nordhavn lineup, the first hull was delivered to the West Coast last summer, and the first is due on the East Coast in time for the fall boat shows. The main deck includes a helm station on the same level as the galley and lounge area, so a watch person during day jaunts can be a part of the action, not isolated in a raised pilothouse.
Two- or three-stateroom layouts are possible, with the beauty of two being a spacious master cabin that rivals a larger boat, while three offers additional bunk accommodations. Comfort extends to the outdoors with a well-protected raised aft deck, a flybridge with seating for 12 and an integral swim step for ease of ocean access. Standard power comes from twin 715-hp Cummins QSM 11 engines and the machinery space allows for pods in lieu of conventional drives.
