Making your own ice can make any cruise cooler

If there’s one thing that can cool off a crew on a broiling day, it’s a tall glass of an ice-cold beverage. Making your own ice can extend your cruise and keep your crew refreshed and happy. Plus, you have the advantage of not buying and hauling heavy bags of ice to the boat every time you want to go out. Even with a good cooler, six bags of ice only lasts about two days under the hot summer sun of southern climates.

It’s great to have ice-making capabilities if you’re out fishing and happen to bring in more catch than planned–you can ice it down in extra coolers and keep it fresh while you enjoy your successful trip. Having an endless supply of ice at hand is priceless to some cruisers. In some first aid cases, ice can be a necessity. ...
