Tap…tap…tap. Hammer against metal echoes across the harbor as pipes and stakes are secured for the raising of the big tents that dot 13 acres of waterfront in Newport, Rhode Island. It’s show time! Sleek, mahogany run-abouts, luxury cruisers and sporty center consoles will lure tens of thousands of attendees onto the wharves and into the tents to view the latest and newest in boats and accessories.

Running September 11-14, the Newport International Boat Show (NIBS) is not only one of the largest and oldest shows in the country, but it also kicks off the east coast boat show season. It’s never “just another show” in Newport. This pristine, historic waterfront offers boating enthusiasts the best of the best—beautiful beaches, busy harbors, specialty boutiques from Bannister’s and Bowen’s Wharves, live music, and the some of the best seafood on the east coast for a plethora of activities andsensory delights.

The show’s venue “Newport for New Products” offers consumers a first glimpse of new boat models and boating products that have been launched since April of this year. Exhibitors compete for coveted awards based on innovation, value to the consumer and aesthetics. Thursday’s show attendees can submit their own votes for the “People’s Choice Award” in each category, and winners are announced at the Friday morning Awards Breakfast.
