The 30th anniversary celebration of the launching of Elizabeth II will be held on Friday, November 22nd, in Manteo, North Carolina. The ship was constructed in the early 1980s to commemorate America’s 400th anniversary. Shipwrights interpreted designs of vessels from 1585 to build Elizabeth II, which represents one of seven English merchant vessels that participated in the first voyage to Roanoke. The ship was constructed on the Manteo waterfront and moved to Roanoke Island Festival Park where it is the star attraction. Plenty of docking space is available at the town marina, which is within walking distance of the park. roanokeisland.com
