The banana trade and American movie stars such as Errol Flynn and his fellow Hollywood heartthrobs, Tony Curtis and Peter O’Toole, made Port Antonio, Jamaica, famous. Today, it is big blue marlin and lots of them that keep sport fishermen from the Caribbean, U.S. and Europe coming back for the 50th Annual Port Antonio International Marlin Tournament (PAIMT) set for October 5-12. Last year, in spite of the eye of Hurricane Sandy passing within 12 miles of Port Antonio on the PAIMT’s layday, 133 anglers on 34 boats released 41 blue marlin and 1 white marlin.
