Fall is a wonderful time of year on the western Gulf Coast. Temperatures are mild, seas are normally calm, skies are blue and life is good. Of course, a lot of us who choose to live in this area think life here is always good, but even we will admit that it can sometimes be a bit challenging. For instance, the Houston, Texas area set a new daytime temperature record in late June with a reading of 107 degrees—also the third highest temperature on record for that area. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the early heat wave does not spawn damaging tropical storms.
