Living about half an hour from New York City for forty-something years, I love the vibrancy and energy of city life. Even with that, I have long daydreamed about finding a destination to get away from it all—a corner of the world not overrun with tourists or traffi c, yet not so remote to lack friendly, smiling faces. I was convinced I’d find it when I first cruised in the Caribbean nearly 20 years ago. After all, friends and colleagues couldn’t stop raving about the beauty of the water and the beaches, the laid-back atmosphere and more. The waters of several islands I visited were wonderfully warm and the beaches pristine but when I visited Grenada, I found the “whole package.”
