Seventeen hours is the new record time to beat for the Bermuda Challenge, a 760-mile powerboat ocean crossing from New York to Bermuda. On September 28th, Italian boat builder and designer Fabio Buzzi bested the previous record on Col Moschin by more than four hours as he and his crew crossed the North Atlantic Ocean at 40 knots. (Chris Fertig set the previous record of 21 hours and 39 minutes in August, which we had reported in Racing Roundup this September.) Two FPT 650-hp engines power Col Moschin, a 39.9-foot military boat used by Italian Army Special Forces.
