Most cruisers traveling the east coast of Florida—whether on the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) or seeking a safe harbor when running outside—embrace Daytona Beach as their port of choice. It is a logical destination with several great options for marinas and amenities. Just south of the Ponce Inlet, however, New Smyrna Beach is a small harbor with a unique style of its own. It is neither chic nor shabby; maybe “casually eclectic” is the best way to describe the atmosphere that permeates this idiosyncratic small town.
