Cruisers to Cambridge, Maryland, have another landmark to set their sights on. A new full-scale replica lighthouse, the Choptank River Lighthouse, is now open to visitors at Long Wharf Park and Marina. The bright red roof is highly visible at the end of Pier A. Plans for a lighthouse at Long Wharf had been in the works for more than 20 years, envisioned as a way to draw tourists traveling over the U.S. Route 50 bridge. At the dedication ceremony, Choptank River Lighthouse Society President Jackie Noller said, “An optimist may see a light where there is none.”
