The Iceman Cometh
Christian Redl holds several world free-diving records: The best known is probably the longest-ever swim under ice (100 meters), although his crossing of several underwater caves in Mexico is also impressive. His ultimate aim is to surpass his own limits and make his dreams a reality. His dives under ice show that, apart from the exploit itself, it is about reaching out for and pushing back the limits of the extreme. So it was that Edox named this limited edition (sorry, only 700 copies) adventurer’s watch after him. The Iceman I is water-resistant to 1,000 meters, with black PVD coating, unidirectional rotating black ceramic bezel, a genuine rubber strap, automatic movement and a black carbon dial with orange markings. Hence, the Iceman I is a natural choice for Christian Redl to wear during his extreme dives. It will look cool on your wrist as well. MSRP $2,550 fergusonjewelers.com
Trim It Up
Bennett’s BXT System is a hydraulic trim-tab system with the durability and strength required by 40- to 60-foot motoryachts and sportfishing vessels.
A dual-acting hydraulic system locks the precision-machined, solid stainless steel actuators into place, securing the trim tabs in position while backing down or in other extreme conditions. The trim tab actuator features internal indication sensors and internal hydraulic lines. This means no wires or cables are exposed to the marine environment.
The tabs are 7-gauge stainless steel, heavy-duty planes with an exclusive interlocking hinge. The system includes the Electronic Indicator Control with accurate trim tab indication and patented Auto Tab Retractor (which retracts the tabs when the ignition is turned off). It integrates with Bennett’s Auto Tab Control to monitor and maintain the optimum cruising attitude.
The BXT System can be retrofitted to existing vessels, and all wire lengths are customized to the yacht’s specifications. MSRP is
from $4,000 (complete).
