Everybody into the Pool

Dive & Travel Harbor
offers visitors chance
to learn to dive

If you are planning to attend the 70th Annual Miami International Boat Show, coming to Miami and Miami Beach, Florida, on February 17-21, 2011, you might want to pack a bathing suit. For the first time ever, this huge marine expo – which showcases boats, engines, all manner of marine accessories and services offered by more than 2,000 vendors from around the world – will include a new Dive & Travel Harbor featuring the “Be a Diver” Pool, where you can try out new scuba gear.

“With thousands of products to choose from in one of the best boating destinations and dozens of activities the whole family can enjoy, the Miami International Boat Show is the place to find out why life is better with a boat,” said Cathy Rick-Joule, show manager. “And with several new attractions, the 2011 show gives boating enthusiasts of all skill levels the hands-on education and entertainment needed to enjoy all of the benefits of the boating lifestyle – and provides a new haven for dive and travel enthusiasts to gather and enhance their hobbies.”

Located on the first floor of the Miami Beach Convention Center, the Dive & Travel Harbor will be a “show within a show” for diving and travel enthusiasts. It will house dozens of booths showcasing everything from scuba and snorkeling products and gear to travel, resorts and boating destinations.

One of the Dive & Travel Harbor’s most popular features is sure to be the “Be a Diver” Pool. Anyone 10 years of age and older will be able to discover the exciting sport of scuba diving in the comfort of a heated, “tropically warm” pool, where they will be given the opportunity to test some of the latest scuba equipment and have a photo taken underwater as a keepsake.

But that’s not the only first-hand experience available to those who attend this year’s Miami International Boat Show. The National Marine Manufacturers Association, producer of the show, also will introduce a Discover Boating Resource Center at the 2011 Miami show, offering free boat rides, on-the-water training courses, and daily seminars.
