Mulder gets our vote for a Favorite

Retro lines, steep

bow grace look

of new launches

Leave it to a 70-year-old Dutch yard to update a classic and capture the retro look. Originally introduced in the 1950s, an all-new aluminum version of a classic line will be launched in 2010 and be produced as a limited edition. The 21st-century Mulder Favorite will be available in three types–1400, 1500 and 1600–and built to stunning new designs developed in close cooperation with Guido de Groot and Vripack Naval Architects.

Distinguishing features include smooth retro lines and a steep bow. The boats are designed for twin diesel power but can accommodate engines of 150 to 435 horsepower depending on whether the owner chooses the round-bilge hull form or the one with hard chines.

The Mulder Favorite 1400 currently under construction will be equipped with a Volvo IPS600 system (2 x 435 hp) and has a hard chine hull with spray rails, giving her a maximum speed of up to 35 knots. Also under construction is a Mulder Favorite 1500 with a round-bilged hull and a conventional propeller shaft system, powered by two Volvo D6 engines of 330 hp each. The aft lazarette provides ample space for a three-meter tender. Just imagine how this will look completed with a cherry wood interior, wenge floors and leather upholstery.
